The first Monday of the month get-togethers, taking over the Bridgewater room at the pub, are a popular opportunity to meet up for a social evening and a bite to eat.

These evenings were instigated by Tommy Tucker, who, along with Annette, has been a tremendous force and an inspiration to our Legion. Tommy and Annette have now left us to retire to Woodbridge. We all wish them the happiest of times to come. They are much loved and we hope (and expect!) that they will visit us frequently.

This branch boasts 157 members and 88 attended the Annual Dinner in April at Ashridge Golf Club: 11 attending for the first time. The Golf Club again provided a fine meal and a highlight of the evening was to hear that Little Gaddesden has been awarded a silver cup for the largest donation for the Poppy Appeal 2010/11.

Plans are naturally afoot to retain the cup! The 5 raffle was won by Gil Stone; a very popular result for our longest serving member (he joined in 1948!). The total sum raised by the raffles was over 800.

Another event to look forward to will be the Ashridge Lunch on 22nd July. Also, of course, the 1st Monday-of-the-month gatherings at The Bridge will take place. Why not join us for a very pleasant social evening and informal meal? You will find a warm welcome.
